Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. was ranked 5th in Fortune’s annual ranking of corporate reputation, based on a survey of almost 3,800 executives, directors, and analysts.  Only Apple, Amazon, Microsoft and Disney were ranked higher. 


Berkshire Hathaway Inc. subsidiaries are substantial players in the insurance world and the 2020 Fortune survey sees it as the most admired in the property and casualty cohort, ranking number 1 for long term investment value, use of cooperate assets, financial solutions and quality of management. 


Berkshire Hathaway is a substantial player in structured settlements, via Berkshire Hathaway Life Insurance Company of Nebraska (BHLN), First Berkshire Hathaway Life Insurance Company (FBHL) in New York, Columbia Insurance Company, the guarantor of BHG Structured Settlements, Inc., the qualified assignment company used where BHLN or FBHL structured settlement annuities are used as qualified funding assets, and National Indemnity Company, Berkshire Hathaway's flagship insurer, which is used for reinsurance structured settlements (also known as periodic payment reinurance)


Prudential Financial is the number one company in Fortune's world's most admired life insurance category for for the second straight year. MetLife issues structured settlement annuities through Metropolitan Tower Life InsuranceCompany (MTLIC) and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company  (MLIC). MLIC opened for for business in 1868.  MetLife offers the only domestic non qualified assignment company, backed by a major life insurer at time of posting. Non qualified  assignments are used for periodic payment settlements where there are taxable damages, or where the damages do not otherwise meet the requirements  of IRC 104(a)(1) or IRC 104(a)(2), and IRC 130.
